Export of frozen pangasius fillets to Germany increased

It can be said that Germany is one of the markets for importing high price pangasius in the EU. According to ITC statistics, in the first 4 months of 2019, the average import price of frozen catfish fillets (HS 030462) ranged from 3.5 to 3.96 USD / kg.

Currently, there are about 15 enterprises exporting pangasius to the German market, most of which are concentrated in the two provinces of Dong Thap and Can Tho. Frozen pangasius is a export product that accounts for more than 90% of Pangasius export structure of enterprises to Germany.

In addition, a number of other products such as pangasius cut frozen, frozen pangasius roll … In 5/2019 alone, enterprises exporting 100% frozen pangasius products to Duc Thong market through the two main import ports are Harmburg and Bremerhaven.

However, up to now, it is unfortunate that most of Pangasius products exported to Germany in the form of frozen phile, therefore, the export price is low: the lowest is from 0.9 to 1.7 USD / kg (FOB); highest at 3.6 – 4.25 USD / kg. Thus, Vietnamese pangasius products exported to Germany still stop at a few poor product groups and are not diverse compared to other markets in the block of the Netherlands. The good news is that in the first half of this year, the demand for importing pangasius from Vietnam of Germany increased steadily and the import price was relatively stable.
